Background

Our Sports Recoveries Division was founded for the purpose of assisting professional basketball players, agents, and sports agencies in recovering earned but unpaid salaries and fees from teams located throughout the world. The division has expanded to include recovering debts associated with a variety of sports, including volleyball and golf, as well as a staff with both professional and collegiate athletic experience, contributing to our ability to understand and efficiently resolve outstanding sports-related debt matters.

Types of Debts

We recover on a variety of debts, including but not limited to:

• Teams owing salaries to players
• Teams owing performance bonuses to players
• Teams owing fees to agents
• Agents owing fees to other cooperating agents
• Players owing fees to agents

Claim Process

Most claims are initially worked by our in-house staff in one of our three offices, which includes speakers of over 15 languages, including Spanish, Russian, Greek, French, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Farsi, French, and Italian. Depending upon the specifics of a claim, as well as its location, we may engage an in-country agent (collection agency or collection law firm) for local assistance.

Arbitration/Legal Action

Depending on a client’s contract, we can represent clients before the FIBA Arbitral Tribunal or through litigation in a debtor’s home country through our local legal colleagues.

Fees

Our services are generally conducted on a contingency fee basis. As such, there is no cost to the client unless a recovery is achieved. In the event of the need for arbitration/litigation a fee will be determined on a case by case basis.
